Does anyone else think this has any chance of happening? I will be happy with Lions making it past first round or having a bye in playoffs so I can hedge some of this action.

In the NFC North, why the hell not? Hell, in the NFC in general, why the hell not? There are VERY few teams that just have no freakin' chance of getting to the Super Bowl, and most of those teams have coaches names that start with Mike.... Tice, Sherman, Holmgren... j/k... the only teams I'd legit throw out are the Niners (for obvious reasons) and the Saints (unless they fire Jim Haslett). Everyone else in the NFC has a bright spot to look forward to (especially the younger teams such as the aforementioned Lions and the Cardinals), enough veteran experience to make a run at the playoffs (AKA: the Brett Favre rule), or excellent coaching (AKA: the Bill Parcells rule).

No way in hell, last time I checked you need a defense to win a Super Bowl or to even have a winning record. Detroit comes in 3rd in that divsion

It is comforting to know that people like Guru are agreeing with this play. The Lions are the most talented team in this Division.

Ward, I believe the Detroit front 7 is among the best in NFC and only the secondary is ??, but certainly improved from last season. How about the chances for a DET/PITT SuperBowl?

If they avoid early injuries, which is always a concern for all teams, they have a shot.

Anyway, I thank both of you for the input.

Lol.... roomy and I are in disagreance over this I guess (HinesWard = BrownsFan = my stupid roommate from before... lol).

I'm only okay at the NFL, so don't take my word for it as much as my roommate's... Much better at this than I am.
The big problem in Detroit IMO is freakin' Harrington... the dude's GOTTA come up this year, and if he doesn't, it's a 6-10 season once again with Mike McMahon becoming the dude and Joey Harrington being the 2nd coming of... well... Tim Couch... lol

Detroit is a borderline playoff team and that's the best thing I can say about them. Love the RB and love the WR's but Harrington does not have what it takes. Mariucci has never given him a ringinig endorsement and its because Mariucci doesnt believe in him and neither do i.

Well someone agrees with me for since I made this play six weeks ago Pinny has cut the odds under 40-1!

I also am not confident with Harrington, but the rest of this team is solid.....and no other team stands out in their division. If Detroit can win the division, I can make some good bank hedging the play.

Once again, I want to thank you guys for your input.

Jeff Garcia is a more than capable QB if Harrington is benched or injured.

This season, Detroit will be a playoff team.

I agree...I actually think they have a better shot if they start Garcia (even though there is no way it happens). :toast:

Yeah but Jeff Garcia is just SLIGHTLY better than Mike McMahon... In fact Jeff Garcia is probably QUITE a bit better for this offense than Joey Harrington is...

Harrington's stats have gotten better each year and they also added Mike Williams in the draft. The Lions have the best WR trio in football and a good RB. Who knows maybe this is the year Harrington steps up. Remember before last year everyone thought Drew Bress was garbage and look what happened. I'm not saying their going to win the Super bowl but I look for them to be much improved and do have a shot at the playoffs.

Are you just copying my thread about Joey Harrington?

Minnesota is the team to beat in that division..... they upgraded there D. there one big weakness is there head coach Tice........
I think Detroit finishes second......... It just that Harrington comes across to me as soft......
Chicago third........ they played real hard last year for smith even with all those injuries..
Green Bay last...... NO defense whatsover.. half there O line left. There Head Coach stinks.......... and Brett Farve has lost his edge.. not to mention he wont last the season this year.......
